It is located north of Tuscania, in the middle of the
Viterbo area.
It was owned by the Duchy of Castro and Ronciglione (founded
by Pope Paul III Farnese in 1537). In 1788, the small town was granted to
Count AIessandro Cardelli by Pope Pius Vl on perpetual lease and in 1808,
the Apostolic Chamber sold it to the Polish prince Poniatowski. The
collegiate church dates to the second half of the seventeenth century.
The church of San Rocco, which has a sixteenth-century appearance,
has several eighteenth-century frescoes ( Our Lady of the Rosary and the
Holy Trinity).
