The church of San Biagio, dating to the second half
of the fifteenth century, has a lovely cycle of votive frescoes. They were
done in around 1468 by Lorenzo da Viterbo and his students, among whom we can
easily distinguish the distinctive personality of the Corchiano Master. The
various subjects depict St. George and the dragon, the Nativity, the
Annunciation, the Madonna with Child between two angels bearing torches and
Saints Blaise and Anthony Abbott, and Saints Sebastian and James. Among
the other frescoes, the figures of St. Blaise enthroned and two
bishop saints, attributed to Antonio da Viterbo, are noteworthy.
Just outside town, the church of Madonna del Soccorso,
dating to the end of the fifteenth century, has a fresco by the Torresani
brothers depicting the apparition of Our Lady to a newly-wed couple. Other
churches worth mentioning include Sant'Egidio, Santa Maria delle
Grazie and Sant'Antonio.
