Tessennano
Inhabitants 483
A small village in the Maremma area of Viterbo, it is set
amidst olive groves in a countryside of rare beauty. It developed under the
Farnese family who, some time in the middle of the fifteenth century,
promoted the arrival of several farming families from Umbria to cultivate
the land. In 1537, it became part of the Duchy of Castro founded by Paul III.
The parish church of San Felice, the local patron saint, has
nineteenth-century architecture and a fine arcade in the neo-classic style.
