THE BEECHWOOD
This
wood covers the higher areas of Mt.Cimino (m. 1053) in the municipal area of
Soriano nel Cimino.These towering beech trees create an environment of
unique natural beauty. Among the natural curiosities of the wood is the
“trembling stone”, a huge boulder which has perched balanced on a narrow
base for centuries.

* LAKE VICO
This
nature preserve exstends for over three hectares within the old crater area
of Lake Vico. It is located approximately 20 kilometres from Viterbo and 60
from Rome and lies within the territorial bounds of the towns of Caprarola
and Ronciglione. It is one of the most beautiful nature areas in Italy, and
it marsh area is of extreme environmental importance as the refuge of
thousands of migratory and stationary birds. The area also includes the

* LAMONE
The
regional nature known
as the “Selva del Lamone” – the Lamone Woods – is located
within the municipal territory of Farnese, and is situated 35
kilometres from Viterbo and 110 kilometres from Rome. This wood,
which is quite impenetrable in some spots, is a natural refuge for
many animal species. Its rich vegetation includes many varieties of
wildflowers and mushrooms. The park area is equipped with picnic
facilities and has well – marked trails.

* MARTURANUM
This
park comprises a vast area of the municipal territory of Barbarano
Romano, offering the beauties of nature combined with a fascinating
archaeological site which includes the necropolis of San Giuliano,
including tombs dating from the sixth and fifth centuries B.C.,
along with the tumulus containing the Cima and Rossi tombs.

* MONTE RUFENO
This
nature preserve occupies three hectares of mostly wooded land located in the
hills around Acquapendente, approximately 50 kilometres from Viterbo, 130
from Rome and 30 from the A1 Highway. From an altitude of 200 metres ( the
Paglia River), the terrain rises to a height of 700 metres on Mt. Rufeno, an
area offering opportunities for excursions and trekking for all ages, with
several hiking itineraries which are diversified according to duration and
difficulty.

* MONTECASOLI
Contact
the municipal offices of Bomarzo at el. 0761.92.40.21 to arrange a visit to
this area. These thirty hectares of territory are interesting both from the
environmental and archaeological point of view, with Etruscan and Roman
ruins (no park facilities available).
* PIAN SANT' ANGELO
This
nature oasis extends for 600 hectares between the municipal areas of
Gallese and Corchiano. The countryside, traditionally site of grain
cultivation, is renowed for its deep gullies and gorges filled with a
dense growth of Mediterranean vegetation and for ruins left by the
Faliscan in the sixth-fifth centuries B.C. For information contact: teaetruria@libero.it

* SALINE
This
nature oasis includes the pools of the ancient salt ponds of the
port of Clementino, located near Tarquinia Lido. They are of special
interest both from a environmental and ecological point of view.

* SASSETO
This
natural oasis is located near the inhabited area of Torre Alfina in
the municipal area of Acquapendente, located 60 kilometres from
Viterbo and 140 from Rome. Of unique natural beauty, with century
old trees.

* SELVA DI MALANO
There
is no official park area here. Contact the tourist office in Soriano nel
Cimino at tel. 0761.74.60.01 to organize free guided tours on foot or on
horseback. An area with many fascinating grave sites, Etruscan tomb chambers,
burial urns, and sarcophaguses, and other ruins dating from the prehistoric,
Etruscan, Roman, and late medieval times. Of special interest are the
“Preacher’s Stone” and “Tomb of the King and Queen”.
* VALLE DEL TREJA
Located
partly in the municipal area of Calcata, this valley, created by Treja River,
covers an area of 1000 hectares. At Mt. Gelato there is an old mill near the
waterfall, offering a picturesque spot.

* VULCI
The oasis of Vulci lies along the Fiora River at the
border between Lazio and Tuscany, near the territorial areas of Manciano
(GR), Canino (VT), and Montalto di Castro (VT). It covers a surface of 340
hectares. Its symbol is the otter, a shy mammal difficult to see, but very
important as a biological indicator of the quality of the environment.
